Continuing the fun...

Well, now I just can't stop!

I know that to confess this -- will show one and all the true depth of my geekiness -- but I shall stand proud under such a title. A true nerd indeed.

I once knew all the words to this song - and with little work I'm sure I could have them down again.

I will further confess that I own and still listen to, on occasion, three of the Animaniacs CDs, along with Veggie Tales and Space Ghost.

If you ever feel the need to hear the Magic Toe Nail song - feel free to ask me to serenade you!

Grace, Peace and YakTrax!

Who says learning can't be fun??

Okay, so I admit, I haven't been too excited about taking the psychology class as a friend described it accurately as "a bunch of goble-dee goop." (Sorry to anyone I offend here, I'm just not that interested in understanding behavior and what compels people to do the things they do.) I basically know that because of sin, we do the things we do. Simple as that.

But my psych professor got me today! I grew up on Animaniacs and he played this clip in class today to introduce Ch. 2 - the Nervous System.

Enjoy!

Ringing in 2009

I decided for the New Year, I would take a road trip. Mainly, it was my birthday gift to myself, but also it was one last hoorah before starting classes again.

1,523 miles in 4 states in 8 days!!! It was wonderful!

I started off visiting friends in Bowling Green, ringing in 2009 in Portland, Tenn., cooking up trouble in Indianapolis and then living it up in the snow in Michigan!!

I was fortunate to spend some time with my brother Jason and his girlfriend Amy who live in Indianapolis. Jason treated me to my first sushi experience -- which it turns out, I really enjoy trying different kinds of sushi, cooked and uncooked.

After partaking in the yummy goodness that was sushi at this rockin' little sushi bar named Ichiban, Jason and Amy took me to this place that had an entire hat isle!! What fun! We couldn't pass up the photo op of putting on various hats for pictures!

After a GREAT night in Indy, which included sushi, hats, laughs, Saraga (the international market) and several hours of speed scrabble, I left the next morning for Michigan, hoping to beat an ice storm that was on it's way.

I felt like a big girl, making the seven hour drive to northern Michigan from Indy. The drive actually went fast and surprisingly, as much as I LOVE to listen to music, my radio was off for the majority of the drive. It was a great time to just be still in the Lord, take in new scenery and talk to the Lord about many, many things.

I finally made it my aunt and uncle's house and was soooo incredibly excited to be there!! Little did I know the adventures that were awaiting me!!!

Now that I know I have you clinging to the edge of your seat, I'm going to make you wait to read about the adventures in Michigan!! The phenegran is kicking in and I can't hardly keep my eyes open. But praise the Lord!! the migraine is much less intense. I just pray I can sleep it off! A busy week awaits!

Grace and Peace to all who continue reading! I hope I don't bore you too much!

Amber meets, greets and embraces 29

As I lay here, confined to bed because of a migraine and nauseous every time I get up, I figured now would be a good time to update my blog since I've let time get away from me!

As of yesterday, I am now officially 29 years old. Or, if you will, 1 year from 30, 11 from 40 and just plainly making my mom old (according to her.) : )

Cake, candles and even a fake smile! Rats!

Yes, Hello Kitty. I will always be my mom's baby girl!

Yesterday was a wonderful birthday! My oldest niece Madison spent the night with me and we ventured over to Owensboro for a time of fellowship and worship with the Chrysalis community, and then I treated her to dinner at her favorite place TX Roadhouse and then even ice cream at Cold Stone. My birthday morning started off with her huge bright blue eyes inches from mine proudly singing "Happy Birthday To You" just after the sun peeked over the horizon. I fought desperately the urge to be upset at not being allowed to sleep in, but man! she so made it worth it!

Punkin bringin' in some joy and excitement for Auntie Am!

At my request, we had a family dinner at my mom's and then watched movies in our pj's. This included me (in case you wondered!), my mom, my brother, sister-in-law and both nieces. Jason and Amy unfortunately couldn't make it home. We had originally planned a game night, but we ran out of time. I love my family! Every time we get together, whether just a few of us, or all of us, it is always a good time!! I am very blessed -- and I really don't take this lightly! After losing my dad in 2000, the Lord has taught me to store up every moment with my family, to let them know just how much I love them and to praise the Lord for His favor in such a blessing. I know so many people who struggle with family relations or who don't have any family at all. And I'm not above taking them in as my own family too!

Bug excited for some cake! She is definitely a Douthit!

I am so incredibly thankful that the Lord has kept me around for 29 years. What an honor to know that He still has a plan for my life and He alone keeps this 'ole heart a thumpin'.

Bug "eye-ballin'" the yeast rolls

So, I must confess that before 2009 was ushered in, I didn't hold out many expectations for the coming year. I believe it was because of a conversation I had with a friend who - knowing all of the events in my life in 2008 dubbed that year for me "The Year of the Rear." I'll leave that expression to your own interpretation - but will let you know it was a bit of a rough year.

But, the Lord has poured out his Grace on me and showered me with such love in the first few weeks of this new year - that I can't help but swell up in praise to Him and with soaring expectations of hope in growing closer and closer to Him this year and experiencing even more with Christ!!

This year has already provided many adventures!! And I'm sure (knowing how I always seem to find an adventure or two) that there will be many more in this year to come!!!

Oh!! Praise Him!! The Lord of all!! The Lord that has turned my heart from despair to great hope!!

Psalm 100

A psalm. For giving thanks.
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his [a] ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;

Who Am I??

I woke up this morning with the fact that, I am blessed beyond measure, weighing greatly on my mind.

2 Samuel 7:18

18 Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said:
"Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me
this far?

So many times, even several times in one day, the Lord reveals something new to me, or romances me with an amazing sight, or sends encouragement in the most unexpected ways just to say, "I love you."

I hope to expand more on this soon, when I have a little more time this weekend. But I just couldn't wait to share, and I feel I am bursting at the seams with God's amazing grace in my own life.

Who am I, O Sovereign Lord, that you have brought me this far????

^^The picture above was the view I enjoyed in starting my drive home from Michigan. I took it as a personal promise from the Lord for safe passage home - and He delivered. : )

Wow! Just wow...

I have sooo much to write about, but unfortunately, as I am on vacation, I will wait until I'm back home to write about the things on my mind. However, I was so fortunate to go snowmobiling today on my cousin's property here in Michigan and I took the opportunity to take some pictures.

Definitely an amazing and beautiful place. And a time to have to just take in the amazing creation of God!

I hope you enjoy some beautiful and snow views from Michigan. I will post more once I'm home!
